Microsoft remains fully committed to WSA for Windows 11 and is bringing more Android apps and games to its major July update.
Microsoft is strengthening its Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA)on Windows 11, and will offer more Android applications and games, while in parallel, the development teams continue to update the system.
While Amazon’s AppStore, which just opened up to developers, is now available in 30 regions and markets, the move could bring more Android apps and games to Windows 11 through this platform, according to Microsoft. This could alleviate a current problem of missing Android apps in the Microsoft
Amazon’s AppStore has already integrated several popular titles into Windows 11’s expanding Android store, like TikTok, Audible, Hungry Shark Evolution, Epic Seven and many more. These games and applications work on Windows 11 without requiring a specific application, as is the case with the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL).

Windows 11’s Windows Subsystem for Android gets better with major update in July
In addition to supporting more apps and games, the Windows 11 Subsystem for Android benefited from a major update, which brings new features. The July 2023 update brings WSA build 2306.40000.1.0 which is available to preview program participants.
At the performance level, Microsoft says that WSA enables “partial execution mode”, which could increase them on devices with more limited resources, such as 16 GB or 8 GB of RAM.
One of the big changes in the update is camera compatibility, which gives Android apps easier access to the machine’s hardware. Microsoft has also enabled support for enhanced fullscreen mode, which is triggered by pressing F11. It will now show a highlighted taskbar, improving the mouse and touch experience. This new feature will provide a more immersive and interactive experience with Android apps for Windows users.
It is now possible to connect Android applications to devices on the same network by going to advanced settingsThen Experimental featureswhich replaces the option Advanced Networking.

WSA displays an alert if an app tries to use a permission that the subsystem does not have, improving privacy settings for apps; Microsoft is moving from EROFS to EXT4 for read-only disks, which can potentially improve system performance and compatibility; Fixed a bug that prevented OneDrive folders from appearing in Android apps;
File transfer and drag-and-drop support ; Function Picture in Picture (PiP) has been updated with support for more UI buttons; Stability fixes for ARM devices and Linux kernel update to version 5.15.104; Security updates for Android 13.
