Practitioners from the Basque Coast are thus joining in this movement their peers from SOS Médecins in Béarn, who had already stopped these so-called “deep night” visits. Because it is indeed a movement, to support the demand for the revaluation of actions by private doctors.
Negotiations at national level, between representatives of professionals and Social Security, did not give satisfaction to doctors at the end of last year. “We have no control, at our local level, over conventional revaluations,” underlines Morgane Guillemot who agrees with “a problem of attractiveness”. According to the Order of Physicians, the number of doctors with exclusively liberal status has fallen by 11.8% since 2010.

At the departmental level, the health authority must therefore note the cessation of visits between midnight and 8 a.m., on the Basque Coast. Or the Bayonne, Anglet, Biarritz, Bidart sector. A “compensation” comes to attenuate the new situation. “SOS Médocs Basque Coast is extending its opening hours in its centers. » In Bayonne, Anglet, Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Hendaye, consultations will be possible from 6 a.m. in the morning and until 2 a.m. at night, instead of opening between 8 a.m. and midnight. And that every day.

For the rest, hospital emergencies (115) will certainly have to absorb part of the nocturnal activity formerly managed by visits from private doctors. “We fear this impact on emergencies,” Morgane Guillemot does not hide. The ARS will be “particularly attentive to measuring this effect on emergency activity”.
