South Dakota State NFL Standouts: Week 5 Recap

2023-10-10 07:00:00

LOS ANGELES — Sunday’s game between the Eagles and Rams pitted two of the best players in South Dakota State football history against one another in Philadelphia tight end Dallas Goedert and Rams linebacker Christian Rozeboom, and the former teammates went literally head-to-head multiple times. Rozeboom was occasionally tasked with covering Goedert, and in the third quarter Rozeboom tackled the former Britton-Hecla star after a 10-yard pass.

That was one of eight catches for Goedert in what was by far his best performance of the season, as he had the fifth 100-yard game of his career in the Eagles’ win.

Here’s how the rest of the NFL’s South Dakotans fared in Week 5.

Jack Cochrane, LB, Kansas City (USD)
Played 18 snaps, all on special teams, in the Chiefs win over the Vikings. Did not record any statistics.

Dennis Gardeck, LB, Arizona (USF)
Got the start and played 38 snaps on defense and 10 on special teams in the Cardinals’ loss to the Bengals, notching two tackles.

Dallas Goedert, TE, Philadelphia (SDSU, Britton-Hecla)
The Eagles finally made Goedert a key part of their offensive gameplan and he responded, catching eight passes for 117 yards and a touchdown in Philly’s win over the Rams. The eight catches were one shy of a career high and the 117 yards were his second-most ever, after a 135-yard game in 2021 against Washington.

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert (88) celebrates a touchdown scored against the Los Angeles Rams during the first half on Oct 8, 2023 at at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
