SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) – The state of São Paulo recorded two attacks on armored vehicles in a period of 48 hours. The most recent occurred this Wednesday (13) in the city of Araras (168 km from the capital). The other incident was recorded on Monday (11) on the Imigrantes highway, in São Bernardo do Campo, in Greater São Paulo.
According to the SSP (Public Security Secretariat), four men participated in the action in the Jardim das Flores neighborhood, in Araras. The criminals arrived in a Honda HRV car at a time when security guards were collecting money from a lottery shop. Two suspects disembarked from the vehicle and announced the robbery.
There was a reaction from the security guards and an exchange of gunfire began. The driver of the car, who was shot, lost control and crashed the car. He died at the scene.
Another suspect was shot in the foot. He sought care at a city hospital, where he underwent surgery.
During the escape, the other bandits shot at military police officers and municipal guards. Afterwards, they approached a family that was held hostage for about an hour. After negotiation, the thieves surrendered.
Three men aged 25, 27 and 28 were arrested.
The men were taken to the 3rd Homicide Police Station, where the case was registered as a criminal organization, reception, kidnapping and false imprisonment, capture of a wanted person, attempted murder and attempted robbery. The police authority requested expertise and the men remained at the disposal of the courts.

In a statement, the press office of Grupo Protege, owner of the armored car, declared that the attempted robbery was unsuccessful and that the employees are safe. “The company remains fully committed to collaborating with the authorities in ongoing investigations”, says an excerpt from the statement sent.
The second case occurred at km 28 of the Imigrantes highway. According to the security department, six criminals, in two cars, shot at the armored car, forcing it to stop.
The security guards got out of the vehicle and took shelter in a forest. The bandits used explosives to open the truck door. The group fled with the money.
Police sources reported that around R$900,000 was stolen. The investigators say they are not working with the hypothesis that any criminal faction took part in the action.

After the crime, the cars used by the criminals were found abandoned by the Municipal Guard near Angelo Demarchi Avenue.
According to SSP, ammunition and a weapons magazine were seized. The Gate (Special Tactical Actions Group) of the Military Police was called and collected an explosive. The case was registered as robbery, location/seizure of vehicle and object in the 3rd DP of São Bernardo do Campo. The Specialized Criminal Investigations Police Station of São Bernardo do Campo must coordinate the investigations.
The report asked for a position from Blue Angels, owner of the armored car, but did not receive a position until the text was published.
