This was introduced by sorae in an article on December 7, 2022.False color image of Saturn’s moon Titan taken by the James Webb Space Telescope“is. Both images capture Titan, and the two images are colored according to infrared wavelengths.
The red Titan on the left of the image captures wavelengths that are sensitive to the lower atmosphere, and shows two floating clouds in the northern hemisphere and atmospheric haze in the southern hemisphere.
The Earth-like Titan on the right image is a composite of data acquired at multiple wavelengths. Through the thick haze in the atmosphere, unique features such as the Kraken Sea, Titan’s largest lake, the high-albedo landscape of Adiri (the bright area), and the dark sand dunes of Berret are visible.
On January 14, 2005, the lander “Huygens” on board the Saturn probe “Cassini” successfully landed on Titan.
