Space instrument monitors methane emission sites

A new NASA mission from space has detected dozens of sites responsible for excessive methane emissions, in an achievement that scientists hope will contribute to limiting climate warming.
These “super emissions” are generally associated with sites for fossil fuel production or waste processing, or even with the agricultural sectors.
The Emmet space mission, launched in July and docked with the International Space Station, was aimed at monitoring the impact of the movement of mineral dust on the climate. But it succeeded in another mission, and it monitored more than 50 sites that emit high levels of emissions in Central Asia, the Middle East and the southwestern United States.
