Spain: Edwin Jackson (Estudiantes Madrid) has been successfully operated on

Edwin Jackson (1.90m, 32 years old) was “operated successfully” for a “disinsertion of the semi-tendinosus of the right leg”, reports this morning his club Estudiantes Madrid.

Edwin Jackson was injured in the January 23 LEB Oro match at Unicaja Banco Oviedo and although initial medical tests indicated a ruptured semitendinous fibers in his right leg, it was later discovered that the injury was more serious.

“This type of injury usually occurs following explosive exertion and although it is not very common, it usually occurs in athletes who participate in sports that require running, jumping and changes of direction. The sensation felt by the athlete is a sudden, sharp pain in the back of the thigh. In high-level athletes in whom recovery must be as rapid as possible, surgical treatment is generally indicated and in these cases it involves reinsertion of the affected tendons into their ischial insertion”. explains Dr. Jordi Puigdellívol.

Edwin Jackson will be out for the rest of the season.
