Energy autonomy of 78% for part of the Jura Arc

A pleasing result for Swiss EnergyPark in the Jura Arc. The Bernese energy company BKW indicates that the Swiss Energypark region produced 125 GWh of renewable, regional and decentralized electricity in 2021. This made it possible to cover 78% of the total electricity consumption of this part of the Jura arc which rose to 161 GWh, specifies the Bernese energy company in a press release on Wednesday. The Mont-Soleil solar power plant has in particular reached a production of 540,000 kWh, which represents the annual consumption of 120 households. “These are remarkable performances for an installation that has been in service for 30 years”, underlines BKW in its press release.

Initiated in 2016 between BKW and the cantons of Bern and Jura, Swiss Energypark covers an area of 282 km2 and supplies numerous companies and approximately 21,000 inhabitants. The wind farms in Juvent, solar facilities in Mont-Soleil and the hydroelectric plant in La Goule inject their production into the network of the Société des Forces Electriques de la Goule. All these infrastructures are grouped together within the Swiss Energypark. They constitute a pilot region which plays the role of a laboratory in the energy transition. /comm-ATS-fwo
