Israel must be sanctioned as it perpetrates systematic genocide; World leaders must break their silence: Spanish social rights minister
Madrid: The Spanish Minister of Social Rights, Ion Belara, asked the international community to block Israel, which is carrying out planned genocide against the Palestinians. She said that the world leaders who condemned the violation of human rights in Ukraine are keeping silent towards those who were bombarded by Israel and this is a double standard of the world leaders.
“The Israeli government must end its systematic genocide against the Palestinian people. What right do we have to talk about human rights in other conflicts when we see such horror in front of our eyes? Seeing the death of thousands of babies, mothers are screaming. Still many countries and world leaders who can do a lot are silent. I will speak what I know for sure. “The hypocrisy of the European Union is unacceptable,” Belara said.
Belara demanded that Spain cut diplomatic ties with Israel in protest over the Gaza war.
On October 7, Israel began bombing Gaza with the announcement that it would destroy Hamas. Tens of thousands of people, including women and children, were killed in this attack.
In the Russia-Ukraine war that started in February of last year, the European Union immediately came out in favor of Ukraine, and they demanded that such action should be taken quickly in the case of Israel.
“The world could do a lot more at this time than impose economic sanctions on war criminal Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu and his successors. They should be brought before the International Criminal Court and punished for their crimes against humanity. Spain and other countries should cut diplomatic ties with Israel,’ they demanded.
Belara also called for all countries to isolate Israel with violence, even though it has powerful allies.
Spain’s position differs from neighboring France and Germany, which have banned pro-Palestinian marches. Pro-Palestinian marches are taking place next week in Madrid, Barcelona and other Spanish cities without restrictions. According to government figures, two million Muslims and 50,000 Jews live in Spain.
