Born in 1958, Hashimoto Shinji, 64, graduated from Komazawa University in Tokyo. When he was a student, he worked part-time at the Tokuma Bookstore and served as the editor of the animation magazine Animage. After graduating from university, he entered BANDAI, following the trend of Famicom celebrities at the time, and the image of “Hashimoto Celebrity” dressed in intellectual glasses served as the publicity director, and later became a game producer. In 1991, he left to set up Cobra Team to manufacture IP games for BANDAI.
In 1994, SQUARE incorporated Cobra Team into a subsidiary company, and Hashimoto Shinji then transferred to the parent company and began to serve as a game producer under SQUARE, including “Thunder Mission“series,”Final Fantasy“series,”Chocobo“series,”Kingdom Hearts” series, etc., can be said to cover most of the SQUARE series games. In recent years, the “Final Fantasy” series and “Kingdom Hearts” series as the focus.
In May 2021, Shinji Hashimoto announced that he will be retiring from “Final Fantasy》 series of brand managers, the company’s executive executive director has also expired, and now it is announced that he will retire and officially leave SQUARE ENIX, who has been in office for 28 years. He has not disclosed his plans for retirement.
