The official aircraft went down after participating in a surveillance operation in the vicinity of the state of Zacatecas. So far the causes of the accident are unknown.
The Governor of Aguascalientes, María Teresa Jiménez Esquivel, indicated that “obviously” it was an accident, but that investigations are being carried out to find the causes of the helicopter crash. He assured that they will wait for the results of the expert opinion and that they will always make the truth known.
The pilot Olegario Andrade Zamorano, captain Victor Manuel Valdéz Sánchez, gunner Juan Rincón Martínez and Alejandro Serafín Guerrero also died in the accident. The governor sent her condolences to the families and colleagues of the victims.
The pilot, assured the governor, carried out maneuvers in a “heroic manner” to land in a vacant lot and not in a populated place.
