Fireworks on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Victory Day ended the celebrations in St. Petersburg on May 9th. 30 artillery volleys, accompanied by fireworks and under the light of the flame of the Rostral Columns, gathered full embankments of citizens and tourists.

Volleys were fired by cadets and officers of the Mikhailovskaya Military Artillery Academy. By tradition, each volley was named.

“The first salvo is in honor of the 78th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War,” the ZVO told Fontanka. – The second one is in honor of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Other volleys were dedicated to the City – Hero of Leningrad and the Hero Cities, victorious soldiers, partisans, home front workers who forged the Victory, as well as in honor of the soldiers – participants in the special operation.

Of the 12 2A85 salute launchers, charges with romantic names soared up – “Cloud”, “Assol”, “Sun”, “Vega”, “Malva”, “Chrysanthemum”.

After the main salute, another firework took place at the Gazprom Arena, according to Fontanka correspondents.
