On the afternoon of February 22, the People’s Court of Long An province opened a first-instance trial against defendant Luu Quoc Bao (32 years old, living in Ward 2, Kien Tuong Town) for murder. The trial panel (Trial panel) imposed the death penalty for the above crime.

According to the indictment, defendant Bao and Mr. Huynh Van Thai (48 years old, living in Kien Tuong town) were familiar, so at the beginning of April 2022, both contributed capital to open a snail shop in Quarter 5, Ward 1, Town. Kien Tuong. Because Bao did not have money, Mr. Thai paid an advance of 60,000,000 VND. According to the agreement, the 8th of each month, plus income to split the profit.
After 1 month of business, on May 8, 2022, the profit and expenses were calculated at 42 million VND. Bao was divided 21 million dong. At this time, Mr. Thai said that he kept all the money above to deduct the cost of borrowing capital to open the shop.
Around 5pm on June 7, 2022, Mr. Thai and Bao used meth together at the shop. After that, the two prepared tables and chairs, tools to open the shop door.
During the conversation, Bao mentioned that Mr. Thai had promised to let Bao go to Mr. Thai’s house to stay temporarily, if Thai’s wife would go to the snail shop to sleep at night. However, Mr. Thai refused and spoke harshly to Bao.
Due to anger because Mr. Thai did not keep his promise and cursed, insulted, and had hallucinations due to using methamphetamine, Bao went into the kitchen, took a sharp knife and ran to stab him in the neck area. Sudden stabbing, Mr. Thai hugged his wound and jogged to the front of the road.
When Mr. Thai ran a distance of more than 100m, he fell. At this time, Bao chased after him and continued to stab him 24 times with a knife, making Mr. Thai motionless on the spot.
After committing the crime, Bao walked for a while before being arrested by the police force of Kien Tuong town.
As for Mr. Thai, then everyone was taken to Cho Ray hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, but due to many serious injuries, 2 days later the victim died.
