Statkraft is selling out in several countries – changing group management

The sales are part of a changed strategy where the company will concentrate on future investments in fewer countries in order to build scale, increase competitiveness and strengthen value creation, it is stated in a press release.

As part of contributing to a zero-emissions future, the company wants to prioritize investments in Norwegian hydropower and grow in solar energy, wind power and battery storage in the Nordics, Europe and South America, and also invest more in offshore wind in Northern Europe.

Statkraft is therefore selling its operations in onshore wind, solar energy and batteries in the Netherlands and Croatia, and will eventually also sell out of hydropower and solar energy in India.

– Statkraft has built a strong position as Europe’s largest producer of renewable energy and is a significant player in selected markets in South America. We have already sharpened our strategy to prioritize capital for our core business, and we are now focusing our investments on fewer markets, says Statkraft CEO Birgitte Ringstad Vartdal.

As part of the pointed strategy, Statkraft will also have a new organization with new group management from 1 January 2025. The changes entail, among other things, that the business area New energy solutions will be discontinued, and the executive director for this area, Jürgen Tzschoppe, will therefore leave the company.
