Stay Active and Healthy While Working from Home: Combatting the Downsides of Remote Work

2023-07-21 10:34:34

The coronavirus pandemic, I would like to believe, is already behind us. But many people continue to work remotely. Of course, this type of work is convenient and profitable – you don’t have to get up at dawn, spend precious hours of your life on the road, buy office clothes in large quantities and lower your salary on coffee and business lunches.

But there are downsides to working from home that can seriously affect your health. And the most obvious of them is hypodynamia, that is, a sedentary (and even sedentary!) lifestyle. Most often, remote work involves the use of a computer. That is, we stare at the screen all day, and get up only to pour another cup of coffee and take a piece of chocolate. If there are children, then we can run to the kindergarten or school as much as possible, and then we sit all day and knock on the keyboard.

As a “bonus” we get muscle atrophy, weight gain, problems with the spine and joints, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, insomnia and other problems.

To add movement to your life, do not forget to get up every hour and do at least elementary exercises: squats, swings with arms and legs, push-ups, abdominal exercises and others. So you reduce the risks associated with hypodynamia.

Like the girl in the picture, who also works from home, but instead of snacking on cookies, she does exercises. Look carefully at these two almost identical rooms and find 3 differences. Try to keep within 5 seconds, only real geniuses (people with IQ>130) can do it.
