  • Andrew Tate and his brother are accused of human trafficking, rape and founding a criminal organization.

  • They have been in custody since the end of December last year.

  • A court has again extended the detention by 30 days.

Pre-trial detention would have expired on February 27, and Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan could have been released. However, the court in Romania, where the British-American influencers was arrested in December 2022, sees it differently. As the “Guardian” reports, the detention was again extended by 30 days. In Romania, prosecutors can keep suspects in pre-trial detention for up to 180 days while investigations are ongoing.

Only in early February Tate had lost an appeal against his pre-trial detention in Romania and had to remain in prison. A spokeswoman for the agency to combat organized crime, Ramona Bolla, said at the time that the appeals court in Bucharest had rejected Tate’s request. He had appealed against a judge’s January 20 decision to extend his detention for a second time by 30 days.

Tate, 36, and his younger brother Tristan were arrested on 29 December in Romania on suspicion of international human trafficking and rape. Tate and his brother maintain their innocence. The truth will soon come to light, according to the influencer.

Two Romanian women under investigation in the same case who were arrested in December have since been placed under house arrest.
