Developer Shift Up is bringing Stellar Blade: Complete Edition to the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. Recent hands-on previews from Gamescom 2026 and new gameplay footage reveal how the demanding action title runs on Nintendo’s portable hybrid hardware.
Bringing High-Octane Action to Nintendo’s Next Hardware
Technical Trade-Offs and Visual Compromises at Gamescom
The Nintendo Switch 2 handles intense action titles with surprising fluidity, but bringing Stellar Blade to the portable platform requires noticeable technical trade-offs.
Most notably, Eve’s character model swaps its usual luscious hair for wiry strands that fail to move fluidly with the protagonist.
Evaluating the Port Against the PlayStation 5 Original
The original title launched as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in April 2024, earning praise for its slick counter-attacking combat system and standout art direction.
Release Timeline and Studio Direction
While Shift Up has not yet locked down an exact calendar release date for the Switch 2 edition, promotional pushes including recent trailers and direct gameplay demonstrations suggest the launch is approaching fast.
Leadership Behind the Sci-Fi Portable Adaptation
Behind the scenes, technical direction for the project is led by DongKi Lee, CTO and Stellar Blade Technical Director at Shift Up.
As players anticipate taking Eve’s sci-fi adventure on the go, the upcoming portable release provides a viable alternative for newcomers, even if hardware enthusiasts may still lean toward the uncompromised PlayStation 5 baseline.
