Siegfried Wolf’s motivation for wanting to take over the truck plant in Steyr, which had been closed by MAN, was always that this location was to become the gateway to Europe for the Russian Gaz group. Gaz is part of oligarch Oleg Deripaska’s conglomerate Russian Machines (who also owns shares in local construction company Strabag). Siegfried Wolf held positions there and still holds shares.
