Vienna (OTS) – “We have to give our children a carefree upbringing. We as a people’s party have this claim and it corresponds to our Christian-social values to pay attention to the well-being of children. The package of measures presented today will help where inflation is most felt – in our families with children and especially in single parents. In view of the high social accuracy, the support measures are not distributed with the watering can, but reach those families who actually need this help in an unbureaucratic, accurate and targeted manner. Families with children who receive unemployment benefits, emergency assistance, social assistance or compensatory allowances and a gross payment limit of EUR 2,000 per month will in future be supported with EUR 60 per child per month. The expansion of the school starter package ‘Schulstartklar’ to two times 150 euros per year and 60 euros per month additionally for those on social assistance will provide massive relief,” says the General Secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker.

“In the past few months and years, people have been affected by multiple crises. With several anti-inflation packages totaling more than 50 billion euros, the Austrian population has already received massive relief. Milestones such as the abolition of cold progression and the valorization of family and social benefits have already brought noticeable support for our families and children,” Stocker continues and finally emphasizes: “It will continue to be our aim in the future to help families and children through the crisis to accompany. Children are the part of our society that is most worthy of protection – therefore, especially in times of multiple crises, we must do everything we can to enable a carefree childhood. With this package of measures, we are living up to this claim.”
