After Ciaran, the Domingos storm left no respite for the SNCF, and especially for its users. Several hundred travelers experienced hell, during the night from Saturday to Sunday, on the Paris-Orléans-Limoges-Toulouse (POLT) line. Some experienced delays of up to six hours. “They barely keep us informed, we can no longer buy food or drink, and we get thrown out by the controllers if we want information,” complained on X (ex-Twitter), in the middle of the evening, a stranded passenger.

Having left Brive (Corrèze) at the scheduled time, namely 6:58 p.m. this Saturday, Charlotte and her two children should have arrived at 11:19 p.m. at Austerlitz station. Finally this mother and her children returned to the capital at 2:15 a.m. “We can’t take it anymore,” she sums up.

If the night trains had been canceled as a precaution, the Intercités at the end of the day were still scheduled. “The SNCF is sincerely sorry for the situation experienced by passengers on the line which was affected by the storm,” apologizes the railway company.

According to the carrier’s information, a first Paris-Cahors train was stopped at Éguzon (Indre) by “a adhesion problem” due to massive leaf fall. “The locomotive was no longer able to tow the train. A second locomotive had to be sent to take care of the train which was able to leave but several hours late,” specifies the SNCF.

Commercial compensation measures planned

Behind him, a Paris-Toulouse train then hit a first tree that had fallen on the tracks near Luant (Indre) then a second near Allassac (Corrèze). “The locomotive was damaged and we had to send a new locomotive to tow the train to Brive,” says the SNCF.

“The SNCF Réseau teams were mobilized all evening and night to respond to the consequences of the Domingos storm to clear out as quickly as possible and repair the trains,” said the railway company. Meal boxes were distributed to customers and civil protection was called to help in Brive (Corrèze) and Allassac. Hot drinks were offered to passengers. » The passengers left Brive on a new train. The SNCF affirms that the travelers concerned “will also be able to benefit from exceptional commercial compensation measures”.
