Stroke in women

In France, one in four women will suffer a stroke during their lifetime. More exposed to stroke than men, women risk after-effects which can also be more severe. Pregnancy and menopause expose women to additional risk factors, as do oral contraceptives and hormone therapy.

How can we explain this higher prevalence among women? How to identify a stroke in women? How to prevent it?
