The Municipality of Ñuñoa reported this Friday that a student from Liceo 7 José Toribio Medinabelonging to this commune, is in vital risk after suffering a beating in “circumstances that must be clarified”.
Through her Twitter account, the mayor of Ñuñoa, Emilia Riosconfirmed the seriousness of this beaten minor and confirmed that “we are already in contact with the family to support them in whatever they require. Justice must be done!“.
In the same post, he attached a statement from the Municipality, in which they indicate that “these deplorable facts must be clarified as soon as possible and the prosecution of those responsible must be a priority for the authorities“.
“As a municipality we will make the respective complaint to the Public Ministry and we have made ourselves available to the victim’s family to support her with all the legal and psychological assistance she requires,” they pointed out.

In a similar statement, from Liceo 7 they pointed out that “context unknown“in which this violent event occurred, although it is preliminarily presumed that it occurred in the middle of the student march held this Friday in the center of Santiago.
“At the demonstration called by university students today, a student from our high school was brutally assaulted in circumstances that are still being investigated. The student remains serious and life-threatening. As a management team we were with his family today and as a community we will give him all our support in these difficult times,” said the letter from the educational establishment.
In addition, the statement, signed by the director of Liceo 7, Sebastian Henriquezexplained that “because he is a minor and given the circumstances of the event, we cannot give more information. As soon as we have more official details, we will send them to you by the same means.”

For his part, the father of the victim, Rodrigo Cornejopointed out that “my son is at risk of life right now, he was brutally assaulted in the context of a student march. It is not possible for young people in this country to demonstrate and risk their lives“.
“All the testimonies indicate that there was an excessive and concerted reaction on the part of itinerant (traders) and a negligent act of Police, who were not able to defend the young people and who, even more, hid behind these street vendors,” he lamented.
Despite this first statement from the high school, it has yet to be confirmed how the beating of this 16-year-old minor, who is being treated at the San Juan de Dios Hospital, originated.
In charge of the proceedings was the Homicide Brigade (BH) of the Investigative Police, who are already in the assistance center located in the commune of Santiago.
