Studio Quantic Lab responded to accusations of poor testing Cyberpunk 2077

Last week youtuber Upper Echelon Gamers declared that in a terrible technical condition Cyberpunk 2077 the Romanian studio Quantic Lab, which tested the game, is partly to blame. Its employees allegedly did not have enough experience and sent false reports to CD Projekt RED.

In response, Quantic Lab CEO Stefan Seicarescu released an official statement accusing the YouTuber of not understanding how AAA games are tested:

A video posted on social media begins with false claims about Quantic Lab’s history. And it seems to lack understanding of how a game is tested before being released to the market.

All of our client agreements are confidential, but in general, global publishers work with multiple outsourced QA companies, rather than relying on just one, in addition to in-house developer-level QA resources. The direction of the project is agreed and adjusted with our clients according to the requirements in real time.

The CEO’s response is the same as stories of anonymous employees from CD Projekt RED itself. They also claimed that Quantic Lab’s involvement in development was minimal – important technical aspects were tested inside CDPR, especially closer to release.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020, and its technical condition has been the subject of ridicule from gamers and several lawsuits from investors.
