Stuttgart Football Club confirmed today its contract with the German international midfielder of Syrian origin, Mahmoud Daoud, coming from England’s Brighton on loan until the summer of 2024.
The third German league indicated in a statement that it has the option to buy the 28-year-old player’s contract following the end of the loan period.
Daoud, who previously played in Germany with Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach, said in the statement: “I am very happy that my move to Stuttgart has succeeded. It is nice to return to the Bundesliga.”
He added: “Stuttgart is a great club with a strong tradition and great fans.”
Daoud, who represented the German national team in two matches, joined Brighton from Dortmund in the summer of 2023 as a free transfer, following six years he spent at Signal Iduna Park.
The German played only 9 matches in the English Premier League with Brighton, where he made an assist.
The midfielder’s contract with his club runs until 2027.
Daoud will join Denis Ondav, who is also on loan to Stuttgart from Brighton, and who has scored 12 goals in 16 German League matches this season.
Stuttgart, which was close to relegation last season, occupies third place, 10 points behind second-placed Bayern Munich, the defending champion, and 12 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
