Success for the 100th edition of the Auto Show which attracted more than 265,000 visitors

(Belga) The 100th edition of the Motor Show attracted more than 265,000 visitors to the Brussels Expo site, a “full success”, the Belgian and Luxembourg Federation of Automobile and Cycles (Febiac) announced on Sunday. who organizes the event. The Salon, which opened its doors on January 14, will close on Sunday at 7:00 p.m.

Although the attendance figures are not yet final, the objective set at 300,000 visitors will not be reached. However, according to Febiac, the event remains the most important indoor event in Belgium. “We welcomed around 30,000 people a day,” explains Gabriel Goffoy, director of Febiac and the Motor Show. “In the current configuration (in six halls of Brussels Expo, editor’s note), that’s the limit, it has to remain pleasant for visitors”. This 100th edition brought together 95% of the Belgian automobile market in a reduced area compared to previous shows. Fifteen presentations of world and European premieres also took place as well as, for the first time, the election of the European car of the year. “It was essential for us and for our exhibitors to show our visitors all the progress made by the automotive sector over the past three years, particularly in terms of electromobility”, says Gabriel Goffoy, adding that the event “emphasized the experience and added lots of animations that were clearly enjoyed by younger audiences.” On the sidelines of the Motor Show, environmental group Extinction Rebellion hijacked nine large billboards and 70 bus shelter posters in Brussels last week, to protest “BMW and Toyota’s misleading and aggressive lobbying once morest climate policy”. .
