Supersalud orders the liquidation of the EPS Medimás at the national level | BLU Meridian

The National Health Superintendency took this Tuesday possession of the goods, assets and businesses of the EPS Medimás and ordered its forced intervention to liquidate from the datewith which it will cease to operate in 232 municipalities of 14 departments of the country that had with 1.5 million members.

“The liquidation measure was ordered in view of the fact that it did not comply with the numerous orders given by the Supersalud to correct the payment of the obligations with its network of providers, to stop the deterioration of the financial and solvency indicators and, reduce the growing rate of requests, complaints, claims and reports (PQRD) by its users”, explained the Superintendence of Health.

According to an audit carried out in February of this year, it was identified that, between January and November 2021, Medimás received 57,653 PQRD from its affiliates and another 6,489 guardianships for healthwhich demonstrated the difficulties of the EPS to provide the provision of services.

Now, the Ministry of Health will be in charge of transferring the 1.5 million people affiliated with Medimás to other EPSs that will guarantee the timely attention of all users from March 14.

“With this EPS we exhausted all the measures tending to achieve the protection of the health system, but we could not allow its breaches continue to have an impact on the deterioration of the health conditions of its 1.5 million affiliates”, pointed out the National Superintendent of Health, Fabio Aristizábal.

It should be remembered that in the last three years the National Superintendence of Health took, among others, the following decisions on the EPS Medimás: maintained the special surveillance measureordered three repeals, withdrawing it from 15 departments, restricted its affiliation capacity, ceased the transfer to avoid concentration of payments and imposed 27 administrative sanctions for failures in the provision of services, deficiencies in the flow of resources and lack of information reporting.

Finally, Supersalud appointed the surgeon Faruk Urrutia Yalile as special liquidating agent for EPS Medimás.
