Supposed wolf in Berlin but a dog

A supposed wandering wolf has led to calls to the Berlin police. The situation center announced today that several people had observed the animal in Berlin-Spandau and informed the police. Colleagues also saw the animal and took photos and videos, said a spokesman. The “Berliner Zeitung” had previously reported. According to the Berlin Senate Environmental Administration, it was just a wolf-like dog.

A spokesman for the authorities corrected initial information, according to which it was probably a young male wolf from the Döberitzer Heide. An expert commissioned by the Senate Department for the Environment examined other images and came to a different conclusion. In addition, the owner of the dog reported, said the spokesman.

A pack of wolves settled west of Berlin in the Döberitzer Heide in 2021. Initially, two parent animals and four puppies were sighted on the site, in May 2022 the Heinz Sielmann Foundation assumed a total of eight wolves on the site.
