Surge in Covid Infections: Central Government Enhances Vigilance

The central government has increased its vigilance due to the rising number of covid cases in the country. Facilities for covid patients in hospitals must also be ensured.

In a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was assessed that over a thousand cases are reported every day in the country. The meeting concluded that measures must be taken to ensure the availability of medicines and necessary arrangements in hospitals for covid patients. Mock drills will also be organized in hospitals, and the test-track-treat vaccination method will be followed.

In Kerala, a high-level meeting chaired by Health Minister Veena George assessed a slight increase in the number of covid patients, particularly in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. Genomic tests will be conducted to determine if new variants of the Covid virus are spreading. ICUs and ventilators will be prepared in anticipation of more cases.

The meeting also agreed to carry out more genomic testing to identify any new virus variants with high spreading capacity. The health department has instructed the entire state to remain vigilant.
