SUSIE Wolff took legal action against the FIA over a controversial conflict of interest investigation last year.

Susie Wolff, director of the Formula One academy series for aspiring female drivers, has taken legal action against motorsport’s governing body, the FIA, over a controversial investigation into her conduct last year.

Wolff and her husband, Toto Wolff, head of the Mercedes Formula 1 team, are the subject of an investigation into alleged conflict of interest claims.

The investigation emerged in December after a magazine report said several other team principals were concerned Toto Wolff had benefited from information shared by his wife.

However, the FIA dropped its investigation just two days after announcing its compliance department was looking into the matter.

Both Formula 1 and Mercedes vehemently rejected the allegations and expressed their frustration at the FIA’s handling of the matter.

All nine other F1 teams later issued similarly worded statements, explaining they had made no complaints to the FIA about the Wolffs relationship and were “happy and proud to support the F1 Academy and its management directors”.

In a social media post at the time, Susie Wolff called the accusations “bullying and misogynistic.”

The former Williams development driver himself confirmed on Wednesday he had launched a criminal complaint against the FIA.

“I can confirm that I personally filed a criminal complaint in a French court on March 4 regarding statements made about me by the FIA last December,” Susie Wolff posted on X.

“There has been no transparency or accountability regarding the behavior of the FIA and its personnel in this matter.

“I feel more than ever it is important to stand up, denounce inappropriate behavior, and ensure people are held accountable for their actions. While some may think that remaining silent will absolve them of responsibility – it does not.” (AFP/Z-3)
