2023-08-14 11:16:18

24 countries will play the Women’s Euro on Tuesday. The preliminary round will take place in Italy, Germany, Estonia and Belgium. The Swiss will play in Monza and Turin, where they will aim for a difficult qualification for the round of 16.

Switzerland owes its presence at the tournament to the exclusion of Russia and its ranking as the best 3rd in the qualifying groups. This will be the third consecutive participation for the Swiss. As in 2019 and 2021, they arrive in the position of outsiders. Their ideal goal would be to reach the round of 16 for the first time.

On paper, the selection of Swiss Volley is however the weakest of group B, which ranks 28th in the European hierarchy. Their opponents will be Italy (3rd in the world and reigning European champion), Bulgaria (8), Croatia (13), Bosnia and Herzegovina (17) and Romania (19). The 5 meetings of the Swiss will take place in 8 days in Monza and Turin. They will begin the competition on Wednesday at 6 p.m. once morest Bosnia and Herzegovina (to be followed live on RTS 2).
