Swisscom suffered a blackout on Tuesday evening. For regarding thirty minutes, the operator’s customers might no longer access the internet. Maintenance work is involved.
The interruption affected all of Switzerland. Swisscom confirmed the incident in a statement. According to the operator, the outage lasted from 10:30 p.m. to 10:53 p.m. and affected both the fixed network and the mobile network.
The interruption is due to maintenance work. “We are currently unable to say how many customers have been affected by this interruption. We are analyzing the situation in detail and the systems are being closely monitored,” adds Swisscom.
Television broadcasts were also affected by the outage, which occurred during the Champions League semi-final match between Villarreal and Liverpool. Many viewers expressed their displeasure on Twitter.
Emergency numbers do not seem to have been affected by the outage.
