Traffic returns to normal on the green, blue and orange lines

A large part of the Montreal metro network was blocked Tuesday during rush hour due to an electrical problem.

The green, blue and orange lines of the Montreal metro network experienced an interruption of more than an hour, in the middle of rush hour.

The STM communicated on Twitter to alert of the breakdown. A new series of messages has been published on the social network to warn of the gradual resumption of traffic.

Service returned to normal shortly before 7 p.m., the STM said on Twitter.

Reached by telephone at 5 p.m. this evening, SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant told TVA Nouvelles that he had been told of a problem in an electrical box at the Lionel-Groulx metro station. There are no reports of injuries, however, apart from an employee inconvenienced by smoke. Users were evacuated due to the shutdown of the service.
