Switch: Nintendo finally allows the creation of folders

This Monday, Nintendo released a new system update that some have been waiting for for a long time. This is a folder-like system implemented in the Nintendo Switch user interface. This folder-like system is called “Groups”.

Five years after its launch, Nintendo created a folder-like feature in its Switch operating system. Concretely, this allows users to create software groups to help organize their Switch libraries. Nintendo Switch announced this feature on Twitter.

An organizational function

Please note that by using groups, users will not be able to place anything on the home screen. It is possible to group or organize your favorite games in a list, but this will not be available on the home screen.

To take advantage of this new feature, simply scroll the screen to the right until you reach the vertical list of all the software. Next, L must be pressed. The user will then be able to access or create groups of games from various sources. To guide users, Nintendo has released a user guide of this functionality.

Once created, Nintendo’s group will be accessible through the “All Software” menu. In numbers, each player will be able to create 100 groups, with each group being able to store up to 200 titles. But beware, these groups will only be visible to users with more than twelve games on their Nintendo.

A new bonus

In the process, Nintendo has also improved the management of Bluetooth audio volume, according to Polygon.

So users can now adjust the volume of Bluetooth audio devices using either their Nintendo Switch console or their Bluetooth audio device. Note that to be able to take advantage of this update, the Bluetooth audio device must support AVRCP profiles.

Another example of new features, some Bluetooth audio devices now offer a higher maximum output volume. As a reminder, the Bluetooth function was added in version 13.0.

The update is included in system firmware version 14.0, available for download.
