As they continue to climb the world hierarchy, Félix and Alexis Lebrun bring a new perspective to table tennis. A few months before Paris 2024, the two French table tennis players dream of doing well in front of their audience.

Félix and Alexis Lebrun are phenomena. The two brothers lead the new generation of French table tennis and shed new light on the discipline. “ It’s cool to get a little more media coverage for table tennisconfided Félix Lebrun in an interview with Eurosport on the sidelines of the Etoiles du Sport. It is important to us to do it because until now, ping-pong was not very important. If we can help get more people talking about ping pong, that’s cool. » If he does not hide the fact that there is “a lot of training” behind his rise, the younger of the two brothers nevertheless concedes that “it is difficult to explain”. “What is certain is that two years ago, we put together a team around us with our trainer Nathanaël Molin, our physiotherapist Julie Molin and our physical trainer Jérémy Surault,” he recalled. It immediately worked really well. We started going out on the senior international circuit and then we performed straight away. »

A.Lebrun: “We’re pulling ourselves up quite a bit”

For his part, Alexis Lebrun readily concedes that competition with his younger brother allows them to benefit from a certain emulation. “ We pull ourselves up quite a bit, adds the 20-year-old. We try to give each other a lot of advice, we pull each other’s punches because we both want to fight each other. However, we give each other advice all the time and the main objective is to get as high as possible together so it remains good competition. » Now number 8 in the world, Félix Lebrun assures that he is “ahead” of what he had planned for the start of his career. “I train to progress as quickly as possible, to win as many matches as possible,” adds the 17-year-old. Obviously I was surprised but at the same time, I knew that I could cause problems for many players. I often train with opponents and I saw that they had difficulty on my strong points. For it to materialize so quickly in a match is exceptional. »

F.Lebrun: “My dream is to participate in the Olympic Games”

If they each evolve individually, Félix and Alexis Lebrun do not intend to abandon the doubles. “ You can do both, most of the best players in the world do it, recalls the older of the two. We give it a lot of importance even if doubles is not at the Olympic Games, it is part of the team event, but doubles is present at the world and European championships. There are quite a few beautiful things to be found at double. » Their meteoric progression comes at just the right time, with Paris 2024 fast approaching. An Olympic goal that the two brothers share. “ Since I was little, my dream has been to participate in the Olympic Games. and now that I am in a good position to participate, obviously, I want to perform well there,” assures Félix Lebrun. His brother, for his part, assures that “ it’s everyone’s dream, it’s the goal and that’s why we train every day “. From there to dreaming of a medal, there is only one step.
