Al-Marsad Newspaper: The family doctor, Dr. Saud Al-Shehri, revealed the source of triglycerides, the reasons for their rise and the stage of danger.

Regarding the causes of high triglycerides, the family doctor stated: “Family history, excessive calories, especially sugary and fatty foods, obesity, thyroid dysfunction, lack of control over diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and some medications such as birth control pills and stimulants that have side effects that may raise fat.” Triglycerides, and some diseases of the liver and kidneys cause an increase in triglycerides.

Regarding the treatment of triglycerides, he mentioned: “If the doctor prescribes medications that you must use, and the lifestyle,” revealing the truth regarding the misconception that the black seed raises triglycerides, saying: “Wrong information, the black seed lowers the hormone homocysteine, which lowers triglycerides.”

And he continued: “Use the medicine if the doctor gives it to him, the dietary pattern, walking, reduce fats and sugars, and fish help lower triglycerides,” recommending that people who have risk factors for heart disease, do an examination to ensure the age of 20 to 35 years.
