Montpellier, France – A dispute originating on social media has taken a dark turn in Montpellier, resulting in a violent home invasion, theft, and the arrest of two individuals. The incident, which unfolded over several days, centers around allegations of harassment related to unauthorized Botox injections, and culminated in an “expédition punitive” – a punitive expedition – leaving the victim with physical injuries and a significant financial loss.
The incident began with a 32-year-old woman, reportedly practicing illegal Botox injections, claiming to be the target of online harassment by a 33-year-old man. The woman alleged the man was publicly denouncing her activities and sending numerous messages demanding she cease her practice, impacting her business. The situation escalated beyond online threats, leading to a coordinated attack on the man’s property and person, according to authorities.
Botox Dispute Turns Violent
According to reports from Actu.fr, the woman, believing she had identified her harasser, allegedly enlisted the facilitate of two accomplices – a 35-year-old man from Grabels and another individual whose identity and legal status remain unconfirmed – to confront him. Prior to the attack, the woman reportedly conducted reconnaissance to confirm the man’s address.
On the evening of February 15th, the trio forcibly entered the man’s property by breaking into his cellar. Several items were stolen, and all four tires of his vehicle were slashed. The following day, February 16th, the man discovered the damage and replaced his tires. He was then approached by an individual who claimed to be relaying a message from the woman, requesting a meeting.
Aggression and Theft
The meeting quickly turned violent. The man was confronted by the three individuals and physically assaulted. The woman allegedly encouraged her accomplices during the attack. During the assault, the group stole a bag containing €11,000 in cash – funds the victim stated were intended to cover medical expenses for his parents. They too took his keys and identification documents. The victim sustained injuries resulting in two days of incapacité totale de travail (ITT), or total inability to work.
Police swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of the 32-year-old woman and the 35-year-old man on February 17th. Both individuals reportedly confessed to their involvement in the incident during questioning. They were formally charged on Thursday, February 19th, and will face trial at a later date.
The investigation is ongoing to identify and locate the third individual involved in the attack, who is described as being in an irregular immigration status.
This case highlights the potential for online disputes to escalate into real-world violence, and the legal consequences of taking the law into one’s own hands. The incident also raises concerns about the practice of illegal Botox injections and the potential for disputes arising from such activities.
As the legal proceedings unfold, further details regarding the motivations and extent of the involvement of each individual are expected to emerge. The focus will now shift to the judicial process and the determination of appropriate penalties for those involved in this violent incident.
