General Éblé’s Pontonniers Build Bridges Over Berezina in Zero-Degree Water

Between November 26 and 29, 1812, four hundred pontonniers under General Jean-Baptiste Éblé constructed two wooden bridges across the Berezina River in present-day Belarus.
