Zeng Yongyi was the first academician of Chinese Academy of Drama, breaking through the traditional academic view of opera; Zeng Yongyi was also the first scholar who studied Gezi opera with an academic attitude and wrote a book on Gezi opera. Wang Anqi said that when she was 19 years old, she took Zeng Yongyi’s “Selected Poems” and “Opera Selections”. Zeng Yongyi has edited the “Anthology of Ancient and Modern Literature” of “Mandarin Daily” for more than 20 years. He is a visiting scholar at Harvard-Yenching Institute, University of Michigan, Ruhr University in Germany, University of Hong Kong, Stanford University, Leiden University in the Netherlands, Wuhan University and other schools. , visiting professor, former chairman of the Republic of China History and Literature Society, director of the National Culture and Art Foundation, advisory committee member of the Chinese Institute of Culture and Philosophy, Academia Sinica, and National Chair Professor, etc.

Zeng Yongyi has won the Golden Pen Award of the Promotion Committee of the Chinese Cultural Revival Movement, the Zhongxing Literature and Art Medal of the Taiwan Literature and Art Writers Association, the National Literature and Art Award, the Outstanding Research Award of the National Science Committee of the Executive Yuan, the Zhongshan Literature and Art Award, and the Academic Award of the Ministry of Education. In 2014, he was elected as an academician of the Academia Sinica (Humanities and Social Sciences Group), the first “Academician of Chinese Opera” of the Academia Sinica.
