Reiterating in passing its firm intention to cooperate with the competent authorities in the fight against the tiger mosquito and this, by transmitting to the authorities in charge of the monitoring and management of this scourge, of all the information collected.
“This cooperation is essential to put in place targeted and effective actions aimed at reducing the presence of the tiger mosquito and protecting the population,” the statement continued. The Institut Pasteur therefore calls for the adoption of simple actions, such as eliminating places where water can stagnate, small debris and old tires.
He also advises removing saucers from under the flower pots or replacing the water with damp sand and ensuring the proper flow of rainwater and waste water by regularly cleaning the gutters and drainage channels.
He also recommends covering water reservoirs, such as cisterns or basins, with mosquito nets or a light cloth. And for homes with swimming pools, but which are unused, the Institut Pasteur recommends emptying the water from the tanks or treating it with bleach or chlorine tablets.
Regarding the proliferation of adult mosquitoes, the Pasteur Institute of Algeria advises pruning tall grass and bushes.
He also recommends picking up fallen fruit and plant waste and maintaining the gardens properly. Another recommendation and not the least: the Pasteur Institute calls for reporting the presence of the tiger mosquito.
And for that, nothing could be simpler. All you have to do is send via the Institute’s facebook and Instagram page the information necessary for the report, namely the first and last name of the declarant, the full address and the name of the town concerned, attach a photo of the captured mosquito and the bite, and this, in order to allow the identification by the entomology experts of the Pasteur Institute of Algeria as well as a photo of the bite.
