The countdown to filing your 2024 tax returns has begun. About 8.5 million taxpayers are expected to file their returns through Taxisnet, which is expected to open within the next few days, by early April.
More specifically, the platform is expected to open in the last week of March, while the posting of its issued clearances LIGHT it will take place at the beginning of April.
What changes? This year’s tax declarations differ from previous ones because they will be pre-filled in Taxisnet.
“For the first time this year, more than 1 million pensioners and employees who have a single source of income, i.e. the pensioner only their pension, the employee only their salary will see their tax returns pre-filled and basically they will be able to simply press a button in from taxis to submit the declaration and accept the result of the pre-filled check. In other words, the citizen does not need to go to an accountant, for example, to do the process himself. The data will already be posted, it needs a check from him and a submission to proceed”, the representative of the Ministry of Finance has recently stated.
“It will be possible to modify or add additional information, he clarified, while the goal is in the medium term in the coming years, starting from this year, but from 2025 onwards the effort will be intensified, all tax returns must be pre-filled and essentially the citizen or the business makes only minor modifications or additions.’
With the expansion of digital functionality, it is now possible to automatically compile the income tax return and submit it directly, achieving faster certification and collection of taxes and reducing the compliance burden on taxpayers. Thus, employees and pensioners who have no other source of income will not even be required to submit tax returns, since their income will be known to the ΑΑ∆Ε and the determination of their tax liability will be done automatically.
According to protothema, this practically means that the declaration will be pre-filled and either the taxpayer will be able to submit it immediately with one click or if he does absolutely nothing, then it will be submitted automatically at the end of the deadline.
It is clarified that today only the prefilling of income from wages and pensions is applied, but the automatic finalization of the declaration does not apply.
Regarding the timetable for submitting the declarations, it foresees that the process should be completed probably by June 30, 2024, while the tax that will result from the settlement of the tax declarations should be paid in 8 equal monthly installments. The first should be paid by July 31, while the last by February 28, 2025.
