In a letter to the school board, 13 employees at Mou Skole are now trying to focus on how certain school students are behaving – and at the same time they criticize the school’s management for not intervening in the situation, writes DR.
To Nordjyske, chairman Per Jensen confirms that the letter was received approximately three weeks ago.
– The teachers have sent the letter to the entire school board, so it ends up on my desk. We do not have a mandate to process it, so it has been forwarded to the administration, says Per Jensen.
According to DR, the school management believes that the incidents are isolated to a few students at the school.
– The administration finds out what is up and down. As far as I am aware, it happens that working environment consultants go to the school. They have the skills to handle the behavior described in the letter, says the school board chairman.
Per Jensen says that the school board is currently in a kind of waiting position.
– My desired scenario now is that you get some people out to work with these things. I simply don’t have the skills to handle that. There I have to get hold of some professionals, and I am quite comfortable with that.
Why has nothing been done before?
– I do not know. Why it has come to that, I don’t know. After all, I don’t have the daily routine at school, because I’m at my job during the day as an engineer. But I don’t recognize 100 percent what it says. This is not the same as the experiences not fitting. But I assume that we will get it clarified via the work that is going on from now on.
The head of school in Aalborg Municipality, Mads Rune Jørgensen, writes in a reply to DR that the administration has held a meeting with the school’s employees, Aalborg Teachers’ Association and BUPL, and that work is being done to improve the working environment at the school.
