Team gold in skeet! Guatemala medals in the Americas championship
Guatemalans Sebastián Bermúdez, Santiago Romero and Carlos Padilla celebrated the gold medal in the Americas Hunting Weapons Shooting Championship, which took place in the Dominican Republic.

The participation of national athletes, who compete as independents, closed this Friday successfully with dominance in the team category in the skeet modality.
In the recount, the Americas Championship left the qualifications for the Olympic Games by Waleska Soto, in the Olympic pit, and Sebastián Bermúdez, in skeet, in addition to six medals, four gold and two bronze.
The gold medals went to Soto and Bermúdez, two more in the men’s Olympic pit team and men’s skeet team events. The bronzes were won by Jean Pierre Brol in the individual and in the mixed event, together with Adriana Ruano.
The team of Bermúdez, Romero and Padilla beat the United States team in the final with a result of 6-2, achieving glory in the championship that brings together the best on the American continent.
Shooting with hunting weapons became the sport with the most qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, since in addition to Waleska Soto and Sebastián Bermúdez, Adriana Ruano and Jean Pierre Brol will be present, who got their ticket to the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
The shooting team will continue its preparation on the way to the Paris Olympics, where for now they will do so as independents, due to the suspension that has been in place in Olympic sport since October 15, 2022.
The national delegation for Paris 2024 is made up of 10 athletes until March and is the largest in Central America.
