The body of Valentina Cancela was found this Wednesday on a beach in Punta del Este. Her ex-boyfriend, 17 years old also like the victim, confessed to the femicide and led the police to where the young woman’s body was.
According to the local press, the cameras captured the teenager for the last time entering with her ex on descent 7 of Playa Brava. Then, the video recorded that the suspect left alone, without the company of the teenager, two hours later.

For this reason, the minor was detained. The police raided his house and soon after the young man confessed to the crime.
The teenager’s backpack and cell phone had been found shortly before half-buried in the sand and the body was found on a dune near there.
Complaints and a “toxic” relationship
Valentina and the man now accused of the femicide attended the same school and “went back and forth” with their relationship until they ended in February, the young woman’s family reported to El Observador.
It was his relatives, moreover, who denounced the adolescent for physical abuse and pointed out that he “always verbally assaulted” the victim.

From the Maldonado Police Headquarters they indicated to the local media that there were cross complaints between adolescents and that the Specialized Police Station for Domestic Violence and Gender intervened in the case.
The schoolmates of both reported that the suspect had complaints of violence against him and that both they and teachers at the institution “had already noticed violent episodes” between them.

Even, Valentina’s companions pointed out, on some occasions she maintained that their relationship was “toxic”.
Although they had already ended their relationship, the adolescents continued to see each other until a month ago and the victim’s relatives stressed that in the last meeting he hit her, for which they decided to file a new complaint.
