Teenager dies in scooter accident

A teenager has died following being ejected from his scooter in a collision with a pickup truck in Drummondville.

The accident occurred shortly following 9 p.m., at the intersection of rue Robert-Bernard and boulevard René-Lévesque.

“According to initial information, the collision occurred at a traffic light”, Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the SQ.

The victim was traveling on Robert-Bernard Street when she was hit by the van which was traveling on René-Lévesque Boulevard towards the highway.

Rushed to a hospital in critical condition, the teenager finally succumbed to his injuries, said Marythé Bolduc of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

According to the first information, one of the two drivers would have passed on the red light then in force, according to the SQ.

“We collect the versions of the witnesses and for the moment, we are not able to know who passed on the red light”, explains Ms. Bernard.

A collision investigation officer must go to the scene to clarify the circumstances surrounding the event.
