Teichmann beaten by the 194th in the world

Jil Teichmann (WTA 37) suffered a bitter failure in the round of 16 of the WTA 250 tournament in Istanbul.

The Seelandaise lost 6-4 6-4 in front of the Austrian Julia Grabher, 194th in the world and from the qualifications.

Seeded No. 5 in the table, Jil Teichmann nevertheless seemed able to turn the tide in this part. She indeed dismissed a double break point in the second set, at 6-4 4-2, before picking up at 4-4 by seizing the opposing face-off for the first time. The left-hander, however, was unable to follow up, losing eight of the last nine points of the match.

Jil Teichmann has not reached the quarter-finals of a clay-court tournament since the fall of 2020 in Strasbourg. Since then, she has won only five matches in total in the last eight tournaments she has played on this surface.
