Only a month after its launch in the United States in September 2022, the Chinese online shopping app Temu was already the most downloaded in the country. Today, the e-commerce site wants to conquer the European market.
According to the website Retail Detail, the prices displayed by Temu are even lower than those of Shein while the range of products offered is comparable to that of AliExpress. The e-commerce site also promises its customers free products or discounts of up to 90% if they play games or convince enough people to register on the site.

The application, however, is debated. With such low prices, the quality is not always there. According to dissatisfied customers, customer service is difficult to reach, delivery times are very long, and cases of undelivered packages have been reported.
Data pollution and protection
Certain ethical issues also arise, particularly in terms of pollution generated by the production and shipping of items. Many data would also be collected by Temu. In Montana, Governor Greg Gianforte has also banned the application on the devices of civil servants, in the same way as other Chinese applications like TikTok.
