Tencent and NetEase make babies – Tencent, NetEase, Jackalope Games – News

Tencent continues its expansion in the West by opening a new studio this time in Liverpool (United Kingdom). It is currently a small studio of 12 people managed by Peter Smith formerly Vice President for Tencent Games Global. Its purpose is to facilitate the production of games by Tencent’s partner studios.

For its part, NetEase has opened Jackalope Games in Austin (Texas), which will produce PC and mobile games. At its head is Jack Emmert. The name may not tell you anything but he is the co-founder of Cryptic Studios (City Of Heroes, Star Trek Online…). he remained at Cryptic until 2016 when he joined Daybreak Game Company (formerly Sony Online Entertainment) to become head of the Austin studio. As Omar Sharif would say, MMOs are his passion.
