This Monday, the FFT announced the names of the five players selected to play in the group stage of the Davis Cup finals. At 19, Arthur Fils should make his debut with the Blues.
After winning a first title on the ATP circuit (in Lyon last May) and having entered the top 50 of the ATP ranking (since July 31), Arthur Fils is about to experience a new fine stage in his young career. Indeed, at only 19 years old, the Frenchman (46th in the world) has just been called up for the first time with the France team to compete in the Davis Cup. Thus, next September (from 12 to 17), the native of Bondoufle will be with the Blues in Manchester to play the group stage of the finals of the famous team competition. Apart from Fils, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) announced on Monday thatAdrian Mannarino (32nd) and Ugo Humbert (33rd) were also called up, as were Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. Already selected in 2014 and 2016, the latter could also make his debut with France on this occasion.

The Blues will have a lot to do in Group B
« This French Davis Cup team can have great ambitions in the competition, thanks to its captain, its state of mind and the energy that emanates from this group”, explained Gilles Moretton, the president of the FFT. For his part, in his capacity as DTN, Nicolas Escudé declared that Mahut had been a “mainstay of the doubles for several years now” and that Humbert “played his role magnificently during the previous meeting (against Hungary) and he excellent results at the start of the American tour”, on the official website of the FFT. In about a month, in the north of England, Sébastien Grosjean will therefore have an interesting group, both young and experienced. It will take that to hope to qualify for the finals of the Davis Cup, in Malaga from November 21 to 26. As a reminder, France will be with Australia, Great Britain and Switzerland in Manchester.
