Tesla Model Y crashes into $3.5 million private jet on autopilot

This week, a video surfaced on reddit showing Tesla slowly but surely entering a private jet worth around $3.5 million. This happened when the owner of the car used the “call” function, in which the Tesla on autopilot gets to the location.

The user who posted the video explained that the crash happened at an event sponsored by aircraft manufacturer Cirrus.

Typically, the Tesla call function works at a distance of regarding 60 meters and if the car is in the line of sight. But why the car did not fix the obstacle is not yet clear. It is also unknown why the car was among the planes and why the owner called it, despite the planes around.

However, for Tesla, such troubles with the autopilot are not new. Modern recognition and AI systems have not yet reached the level where they can work reliably in 100% of cases.

It is not known how serious the damage was to the aircraft.
