A referendum conducted by the management of the Alexandria Festival for Mediterranean Cinema is among the activities of the 38th session of the festival, which will be held this year from 5 to 10 October, which focuses on the subject of comedy and chose the 100 best Egyptian comedy films in the history of cinema.
There are honors for a number of comedy stars: half a century after the departure of the artist Ismail Yassin, the award of the Knight of Comedy Medal to Samir Ghanem and Dalal Abdel Aziz, as well as honoring their daughter, actress Donia Samir Ghanem, and the celebration of the centenary of director Fatin Abdel Wahab, and the publication of a memorial book about the referendum, which he co-edited. 32 critics, under the supervision of critic Ahmed Shawky, and a workshop to write a comedy film in 3 lectures: two by writer Atef Bishai and one by director Hala Khalil.
Of the 100 films, there are 17 directed by Fatin Abdel Wahab: A Rumor of Love, My Woman, General Manager, Ibn Hamido, Miss Hanafi, The Zizi Family, The Wife 13, The Land of Hypocrisy, My Woman’s Imp, Oh Min Eve, Ismail Yassin in the Fleet, Half an Hour Passport, Ataba Green, city lights, Mrs. Fatima, His Majesty, Ismail Yassin in the army, me and him and her.
And there were many films by a number of directors, such as Niazi Mustafa (Si Omar, Salama Fi Khair, The Mask of Concealment, The Search for a Scandal, Small for Love, 30 Days in Prison, Butchery of Women, The Most Dangerous Man in the World). And Sharif Arafa (Terror and Kebabs, The Nazer, Sleeping in Honey, Aboud on the Borders, O pudding, O, Great Bean of China).
